The National Highways Authority of India is responsible for management of a network of over 50,000 km of National Highways.
also known as NHAI, spokesman said a cyber attack took place on its email server on Sunday night but prompt action resulted in no data loss. As a precaution, the Authority had shut down the server.
India’s cyber security agency, had issued an advisory warning that the potential phishing attacks could impersonate government agencies, departments and trade bodies that have been tasked to oversee disbursement of government fiscal aid.
This incident joins previous reports that several government agencies, media houses, pharma companies, telecom operators and a large tyre company in India may be targeted by a massive cyberattack from hacking groups with links to the Chinese government.

In 2019, the Parliament was informed that over 24 websites related to central ministries and state governments were hacked.
In November, a malware was found on one of the systems of Nuclear Power Corporation of India.
The malware was designed for data extraction and was linked to the Lazarus Group, which is known to have ties to North Korea.
Recently some clashes between India and China have been happening around their borders so this might be related as well.
In the past India has also been in the line of fire of Pakistan-backed cyberattacks.
India might be one of the most targeted countries in the world by state actors this days.

Online food delivery service Delivery Hero has confirmed a data breach affecting its Foodora brand.
Foodora is an online food delivery brand originally based in Germany which offers meals from over 9,000 selected restaurants in several countries worldwide.
The cybersecurity incident has exposed the account details of hundreds of thousands of customers in 14 different countries. Delivery Hero told Infosecurity Magazine that the exposed data consists of “unique email addresses as well as certain customer details: encrypted password hashes, name, first name, delivery address, and phone number.” The company confirmed that no financial data, clear-text passwords or geolocation data was exposed.
A spokesperson for Delivery Hero said: “Unfortunately, we can confirm that a data breach has been identified concerning personal data dating back to 2016,” said a Delivery Hero spokesperson.
Data breach expert Troy Hunt said that over 600,000 unique email addresses were among the leaked data. According to Hunt’s research, the oldest Australian files exposed in the incident date back to August 2015.
“Our security teams validated that the exposed database contained approximately 480,000 email addresses,” a Delivery Hero spokesperson told Infosecurity Magazine.
The company, which has around 22,000 employees and deliver over 3 million food orders per day. Delivery Hero is not yet sure how the breach occurred but is taking steps to find out.
The spokesperson added that the “relevant authorities” have been informed of the data breach.
